"A remarkable young man with extraordinary talent who was so generous with his demonstrations while answering our many questions! Can't wait to attend another workshop and would highly recommend!"
Lori W. - South Carolina
"Highly intuitive about how the water of the paper (saturation) and color work together to create." -ArtCenter Manatee Student
“I have tried to paint with watercolors since high school, even after a semester of watercolor painting at the Cleveland Institute of Art, I have found it frustrating. Painting with Dylan was a revelation. My skills took a leap and bound during the 2 day workshop. “
-Quinlan Visual Center for the Arts Student
"Dylan is brilliant! He has a delightful and generous spirit - I thoroughly enjoyed his class. I would love to sign up for another." -ArtCenter Manatee Student
"I have taken several workshops/classes from Dylan and each time I am impressed by his incredible talent both as an artist and as a teacher. Not only does he provide clear and detailed instruction on technique during his demonstrations, he also offers guidance on how to produce brilliant translucent colors and outstanding compositions. After each demonstration, the students are given time to practice what they have learned while he provides gentle, constructive feedback. As an added bonus, the online lessons on his website reinforce the learning. Thank you Dylan, for helping me to move my watercolor skills to the next level!"
Jeannie E. - Georgia
"I feel quite privileged to have had the opportunity to study with Dylan at his recent workshop on portraiture in Smyrna Georgia. Those 3 days were among the richest painting/learning experiences I have ever had. Dylan’s careful and deliberate teaching left no one behind as he stepped out his process. This humble artist is not only brilliant in what he does but is also very respectful of learners’ differences and very generous with practical ways to resolve problem passages in students’ work. I have taken many watercolour workshops from high quality painters and would rank Dylan’s among the most valuable. Anyone fortunate enough to share time with him will undoubtedly appreciate the experience. Dylan is a magician with a brush, a generous teacher and all around beautiful person."

"Capturing the Soul"
Dylan will guide the class in how to capture the beauty and unique character of the animal while conveying a mood and message in the painting. Various watercolor techniques will be demonstrated to achieve realistic textures unique to each animal. Using sketches to establish a synchronized order of importance, Dylan will explain how to make artistic decisions to create and effective composition, to communicate what is important to the viewer. Also, Dylan will demonstrate how using color studies will help discover unexpected ways of expressing ones message. Principles of creating depth and realism will also be demonstrated. This is an intermediate to advanced class.

Understanding color theory, how to capture the essence using color.
Two days of painting loose 5x7 watercolor studies with big brushes exploring how to use various color schemes to evoke the mood and message. We will also go over the process how to choose a color scheme and why.
We will explore different ways of neutralizing colors and why. And look at relationships between colors.
We’ll do studies for each image to see comparisons of how different color scheme effects and changes the mood and message.
We will also take a look at the Triadic color palette, what colors work together and how to use it effectively.
Triadic is a limited palette of three colors evenly spaced on the color wheel and makes beautiful harmonies.
I have loved using the Triadic while in the studio and plein air painting landscapes. For more about Triadic check out the Triadic Blog.
There will be lots of demos and one on one help.
I hope you can join, I am looking forward to it!
